Drum roll … the whole team at Hi-Level Mezzanines was hugely honoured to be officially presented with the King’s Award for Enterprise (KAE) in Innovation.
At a ceremony in our Petersfield headquarters we hosted Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire Nigel Atkinson – who made a rousing speech and was accompanied by his deputy Maggie Carver – as well as Mayor Councillor Lesley Farrow.
We also invited Hi-Level’s own celebrities – including Derek Quail , one of our original founders who is now retired, the board of directors and everyone in the team, bringing together staff based in our offices from Leeds to Poland!
Managing Director Angus Whiteman had already shaken hands with the King at a KAE champagne reception in Windsor Castle, but this time every member of staff shared in the celebration.
Outstanding business performance
Hi-Level Mezzanines is remarkable for winning this exceptional award against tough competition from far larger companies – we have just 25 employees, compared to other winners with thousands of staff.
Our win recognises our “outstanding business performance and commercial success” following the invention of a piece of high-performance engineering software called IQD (Intelligent Quote Designsuite).
It is innovation, technical skill and superb customer service that have earned us the loyalty of top brands including Amazon, Ocado, Tesco, ASOS, Next and DPD.
Punching above our weight
Sales Director Chris Baxter said: “The ceremony allowed us to really appreciate the significance of the King’s Award for Enterprise and just how prestigious it is. The Lord Lieutenant told us it’s the biggest award any company can win in the UK, and considering our size it was incredible to think how much we have punched above our weight to win it. In any year only 250 companies in the UK can hold the King’s Award for Enterprise and we are one of only 59 Innovation winners in the whole country this year.

Both the KAE trophy and official winner’s flag are now bringing a touch of Royal approval to our premises.
